No Praying Sign

No Praying Sign

By transforming a familiar prohibition sign into a provocative statement, I question the limits imposed on personal freedom and inner life. The work confronts a fundamental contradiction: how can we forbid something that arises from the deepest parts of human existence?

The work was recognised as a particularly compelling response to the brief and was selected to feature on the exhibition poster. The exhibition was presented at the Labin City Museum and the Museum of the City of Rijeka.

The sign challenges the idea that prayer can be forbidden. Prayer is a universal human act that transcends religion — an expression of hope, love, care, longing, and the desire for goodness. It is spirituality in its most intimate form, rooted in our shared humanity. Even the strongest atheists cannot claim to know with absolute certainty where we, as human beings, ultimately come from or why we exist. This uncertainty leaves room for wonder, questions, and the search for meaning.

My work, titled “Prepare Everything the Night Before So You Have Time to Drink Tea in the Morning,” explores the importance of good organisation in everyday life. However, this is only one of several layers of interpretation embedded in the work.
